Construction of A BeeTagg

A BeeTagg basically is a 2-dimensional barcode. This means that it is constructed of a matrix-like arrangement of white and black elements (combs) that equate to value „0“ and „1“.

This means that the ultimate information is saved in these elements.
Therefore, it is very important that these elements do not get changed in any way. Otherwise, the BeeTagg could get unusable. Here you can find the Design Precepts. Hereby, the white combs are as important as the black ones and must not get changed or covered in any case.

Around the combs, there is a black frame that separates the BeeTagg from its surroundings. The frame is important in order to make the BeeTagg legible to the Reader. Because of this, the frame must not be changed in any way either. It is recommended, but not absolutely necessary, to leave around the black frame a white border of the same size which clearly delimits the BeeTagg from the advertisement behind. Within this white border, you can usually also find the BeeTagg Keyword there. The Keyword is not needed fort he technical functions, but, is required if you would like to enter a BeeTagg manually and not capture it by camera. The Keyword is also needed, if your mobile phone does not have any camera or if the camera is weak and you therefore can only use the BeeTagg Reader Lite.

Within the BeeTagg itself, there optionally is a graphic element, e.g. a logo. The logo does not have any technical function and exclusively serves the purpose to give the customer a hint on the function and origin of the BeeTagg. Thus, there are no guidelines or limitations as to the design of this graphic element, except that it must not touch or covert the circumjacent combs in any way.

There are various BeeTagg formats that exclusively differ in their form and size of the inner, freely creatable area. Thus this format can always be optionally adapted to the respective graphic element.

There are 7 different BeeTagg formats in total:

Not all formats are available in every application. Please contacts us in case of doubt under support[at]beetagg.com. Every format is different in its size and form of the designable area within the centre of the BeeTagg. The format „None“ is a data code only, it does not contain any graphic element.
